Ink on Cheap Paper Test #5, Pilot Green

Pilot Green is available as a color in the Varsity series. Unfortunately, a review for this ink isn't readily available as many reviews gravitate towards the Iroshizuku greens. The one review I did find resulted in a broken PDF attachment, so we'll just have to go with the tests. These samples were written with a Pilot Varsity with a medium nib.

This is the kick-off test for a new standardized format which will include only 5-6 lines per paper test, a post-it-note with a few brief lines, the same order of AMPAD Legal Pad, Post-It-Note, small Legal Pad, Steno Pad, Staples copy paper, Scratchpad, and pen & GEAR Notebook tests. A short summary of bleeding, ghosting, and drying time will be included at the bottom of the page. I'll work on devising some sort of TLDR system for rating the overall performance, but I'm just not there yet.

Summary: The two best overall papers were Staples copy paper with a 5 second dry time and only light ghosting present. The second best was the Steno Pad with a 5 second dry time and only light ghosting present also. Third best was the pen & GEAR Notebook with light ghosting and a longer dry time of 15 seconds. The bottom four had heavy ghosting or ghosting and bleeding, despite their drying time, it would be difficult to use the legal pad, small legal pad, Post-It-Note, or scratchpad on more than the front. However, that's usually where someone would use writing and rarely, if ever, is the reverse side used on those papers. The drying time was between 0 and 10 seconds on those four papers. Overall, Pilot Green will work well on most cheap papers, especially on Staples copy paper 20 lb and AMPAD steno pads.
